Dr. Gormally: Committed to the Community

I am proud of the service provided to the community on a pro bono basis. I greatly enjoy lecturing and like the opportunity to explain how psychology can be applied to everyday situations. Over the years, I have given over 100 lectures on new treatments for depression and learning how to be optimistic in the face of adversity. In addition to public speaking, I started and supervised a self help group as part of the Maryland Association for Bulimia and Anorexia Nervosa. That self help group was well known in the community and met weekly for over 10 years. I also volunteer my time to the Pro Bono Counseling Program in Maryland.

Organizations that I have supported by lectures on psychological topics:

  • The Arthritis Foundation
  • Washington Adventist Hospital
  • Holy Cross Hospital
  • YMCA of Silver Spring
  • University of Maryland
  • The 40+ Club
